Trey Morris was named an assistant coach for the Auburn men's tennis program in July of 2024. 
Morris joined the staff at Jacksonville State in 2023. Morris posted a 15-10 overall record in his first season as the Gamecocks head coach in 2024 including wins over Mercer, Furman, Chattanooga and Southern Miss. The team also had five players receive all-conference honors. The team reached an ITA national ranking of 80th in 2024, which was the highest in program history.
He also delivered a 33rd nationally ranked recruiting class according to Tennis Recruiting Network in 2023, which was the highest ranked class in program history and the highest in the state of Alabama. Morris recruited and coached Ivan Marrero Curbelo, who became the first Jacksonville State player to hold an ITA singles ranking (No. 45).
Prior to his time in Jacksonville, Morris made a coaching stop in Birmingham as the associate head men’s tennis coach at UAB in the fall of 2022. The Colbert, Georgia native spent three seasons as the head coach and Director of Tennis at Montana State where he was named Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year in 2022 after leading the Bobcats to a conference championship and posting an 18-8 overall record.
In his three seasons at Montana State, he held a 27-20 record and guided Metej Panik and Jamieson Nathan to the program’s first ever appearance in the NCAA Doubles Championship round of 16 in 2022. Panik and Nathan also received the highest ITA doubles ranking of any pair in program history at No. 23.
Panik and Daan Van Dijk earned Montana State’s first ever appearance at ITA Fall Nationals and recorded a runner-up finish in the ITA Mountain Region doubles championship under Morris. He also enjoyed recruiting success with the Bobcats, landing the first nationally ranked recruiting class in program history according to Tennis Recruiting Network at No. 26.
Following graduation from Appalachian State with a degree in communications, Morris served as the volunteer assistant for both the men’s and women’s teams in the fall of 2017 where he coached Scott Webster to a program-best ITA singles ranking of No. 61. As a player with the Mountaineers, he recorded a 44-27 singles record and a 42-23 doubles record from 2015-17. Morris was also named All-Sun Belt in doubles his senior season.
Outside of collegiate tennis, Morris worked as the Tennis Director and associate owner of Baskin-McGill Tennis Academy in Marietta, Georgia, where he developed 10 Division I tennis players and saw a 100 percent college placement for his students. Morris’ students landed at schools including Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Kansas.
Morris coaches 10 players that earned top-10 TRN recruiting rankings including Blake Croyder and Brandon McKinney. He also played professionally for one year in Germany where he reached a career high UTR rating of 13.30.
Morris is married to his wife, Katelyn, and the couple have two children, James and Mara.
