Whether it's your first time around or you're dusting off old skills, this class offers a supportive space to learn the basics and build intermediate techniques for making ceramics on the pottery wheel! The first few weeks will cover the basics of creating pottery on the wheel – “throwing”. Beginner skills covered will include centering, pulling cylinders, shaping forms, trimming, attaching handles, and glazing. Intermediate demonstrations may include stacking cylinders, altering thrown forms, lids, and more as the class’s skill level allows. You are invited to join us for instructor demonstrations, guided practice, peer coaching, and the creativity and camaraderie that come with the group! Your materials fee includes a 25lb bag of clay, supervised use of studio glazes, and firings during the 6-week session. You will have access to the studio and basic tools during open-studio hours to practice and develop your skills between class meetings. Please ensure you can attend all class meetings before registering, as make-up instruction cannot be arranged. $180 per person ($150 course fee + $30 materials)
