Visual Arts Workshops for Children - Visual Arts Workshops for Children - Session 2 - Summer 2025 - AAA Visual Arts Workshops for Children is an ART CAMP created by Chichi Lovett and coordinated by Sara Custer, Cultural Arts Administrator, and Emillie Dombrowski, Art Education Specialist. Art camps provide a supportive and creative learning environment where instruction is collaborative and taught by experienced artists and art educators. Campers will explore different mediums while learning about artists, history, movements and cultures. We are an ART workshop with emphasis on aesthetics and the process of creating art. Whether it's your first time around or you're dusting off old skills, this course offers a supportive atmosphere in which to explore fundamental techniques for throwing vessels on the wheel. Learn to create table-ready bowls and cups, exploring different shapes as confidence grows! Focused Wheel Throwing - Focused Wheel Throwing - Bottles - Summer 2025 - Romona Brisco Summer:BottlesCome join me if you want to practice on coloring by throwing bottles! Designed for students who can throw cylinders at least 4 inches tall, this course focuses on shaping and coloring. As time permits, we will create taller and larger pieces. Practice outside of class with provided pugged clay and complete at least two, functional, well-made pieces. Additional guidance on trimming included. $110/participant + $20 materials fee. FALL:Plates and Pasta BowlsCome join me as we create plates and pasta bowls on the wheel! As time permits, we will focus on throwing a variety of plates on the wheel (according to well sizes) along with pasta bowls. Whether it's your first time around or you're dusting off old skills, this course offers a supportive atmosphere in which to explore fundamental techniques for throwing vessels on the wheel. Learn to create table-ready bowls and cups, exploring different shapes as confidence grows! Other skills that may be offered as students show readiness include plate making, trimming recessed feet and attaching handles. Throughout the course, you will also have access to the JDCAC's Cermaics Studio to practice on a wheel during open studio hours. Some of the projects include making colored slip, adding color to clay slabs that result in a marbled effect, and adding custom colored designs to greenware and bisqueware. The instructor will share personal experiences and "no frills" recipes. Note: Some glazes discussed and used in class are for non-functional items only. Minor outside work may be necessary to complete projects or prep for the next class. No experience necessary! Learn to Swing Dance for the Auburn Community with AUSDA - Learn to Swing Dance - Summer 2025 - Chris Olds Interested in learning how to swing dance? The AU Swing Dance Association hosts FREE beginner and intermediate swing dance lessons every Friday night. Lessons are from 7-8 pm and social dancing is from 8-9 pm. Don't have any dance experience? Don't worry, we have you covered. Our beginner lessons teach you from the ground up so we will have you dancing the night away in no time! Don't have a partner? Perfect, neither do we! We rotate partners frequently throughout our lessons to provide the best learning environment and allows our students to meet everyone in the lesson. While you're more than welcome to bring a partner, partners are not required. What do I wear? The most important thing is to be comfortable. Throwing the Perfect Bowl - Advanced - How to Make the Perfect BIG Bowl - Summer 2025 - Jenny Mulligan Join Jenny Mulligan for a class that will focus on throwing, shaping, altering and perfecting the bowl form!Novice class on how to throw the perfect bowl: Learn and improve your skills specific to bowl- making, including centering, thinning the walls, shaping, altering, surface decoration and glazing techniques. Designed to help the novice student advance their skills. Prerequisite Intro to pottery. Cost $80 for 4 weeks. Supplies $40 which includes clay and a metal rib.
